By incentivizing domestic R&D and manufacturing, India aims to de-risk its industrial sector, particularly in automotive, telecommunications, and defense, where chip integration is now fundamental. Furthermore, the push for indigenous AI development is critical for localizing digital public infrastructure and ensuring that algorithms are tailored to India’s diverse socio-economic requirements.
