Andhra Pradesh Unveils Strategic Roadmap for Agri-Tech and Food Processing in Kuppam

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled a strategic roadmap aimed at revitalizing the agricultural landscape of the Kuppam region. The initiative focuses on transitioning traditional farming practices toward high-value horticulture and establishing a robust food processing ecosystem. By integrating scientific cultivation methods with modern infrastructure, the government aims to address the persistent challenges of low value-addition and post-harvest losses that plague the rural economy. A core component of this roadmap is the emphasis on public-private partnerships (PPP). The state government intends to collaborate with private firms to provide farmers with access to advanced agri-tech solutions, including precision farming tools and climate-resilient crop varieties. Furthermore, the plan prioritizes the development of downstream infrastructure, such as cold chains, processing units, and efficient market linkages, to ensure that farmers can capture a larger share of the consumer price. This shift is expected to move the region from subsistence-based agriculture to a market-oriented, value-added model, thereby enhancing the socio-economic status of the farming community.
