The PMSMA was designed to provide a fixed-day, assured, comprehensive, and quality antenatal care (ANC) universally to all pregnant women on the 9th of every month. Over the past ten years, the program has successfully conducted more than 50 million free check-ups. A critical component of its success has been the systematic identification and follow-up of high-risk pregnancies (HRPs). By detecting complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, and anemia early, the program has significantly reduced the risk of maternal and neonatal mortality.
