The deployment of an automated Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) early warning system at the Geepang Gath glacial lake in Himachal Pradesh represents a critical technological intervention in India's disaster management strategy. As climate change accelerates the melting of Himalayan glaciers, the formation of unstable, rapidly expanding proglacial lakes has become a significant geomorphological threat.
