Rajasthan's Strategic Push for Food Processing and Value Addition

The Rajasthan government has initiated a comprehensive policy framework aimed at revitalizing the state's food processing sector. Recognizing the state's vast agricultural potential, the new strategy focuses on bridging the gap between farm-gate production and market-ready processed goods. By prioritizing value addition, the government intends to mitigate post-harvest losses, which currently plague the rural economy, and ensure that farmers receive a greater share of the consumer's rupee. The initiative is built on several pillars, including policy reforms to ease the regulatory burden on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector, the identification of region-specific processing clusters, and the promotion of public-private partnerships.
