Union Cabinet Approves 'BHAVYA-Rasayan' Scheme to Boost Chemical Manufacturing

The Union Cabinet has approved the 'Bharat Audyogik Vikas Yojana Rasayan' (BHAVYA-Rasayan) scheme, a strategic initiative designed to transform India’s chemical manufacturing landscape. With a financial outlay of ₹3,030 crore, the scheme focuses on the establishment of three large-scale, dedicated chemical parks equipped with state-of-the-art common infrastructure facilities. The chemical industry is a cornerstone of the Indian economy, serving as a vital input for sectors ranging from agriculture and pharmaceuticals to textiles and automobiles. However, the sector has historically faced challenges related to fragmented production units, high logistics costs, and a lack of integrated upstream and downstream facilities. The BHAVYA-Rasayan scheme seeks to address these structural bottlenecks by creating 'plug-and-play' industrial ecosystems. By co-locating manufacturing units, the scheme promotes industrial synergy, allowing for the efficient sharing of utilities, waste management systems, and raw material pipelines. This integration is expected to significantly reduce the cost of production, thereby enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian chemical exports.
