Empowering the Traditional Artisan: A Triennial Review of the PM Vishwakarma Initiative

The PM Vishwakarma scheme, launched to provide holistic support to India’s traditional artisans and craftspeople, has completed three years of implementation. By focusing on the 'Guru-Shishya' tradition, the scheme aims to preserve age-old cultural practices while simultaneously modernizing the economic prospects of vulnerable sections involved in the informal sector. At its core, the initiative addresses the systemic challenges faced by artisans, such as lack of access to credit, outdated tools, and limited market exposure.
