PM Modi Launches 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan'

On August 2, 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan,' a comprehensive 100-week nationwide campaign. This initiative marks a strategic shift in India's approach to substance abuse, moving from purely enforcement-led measures to a 'Jan Bhagidari' (people's participation) model. The campaign recognizes that the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India) by 2047 is unattainable without a healthy, productive, and drug-free youth population. The campaign is designed to foster community-led social change by creating a collaborative ecosystem. It actively engages educational institutions, NGOs, spiritual organizations, and local communities to create awareness, provide support systems for rehabilitation, and dismantle the social stigma surrounding drug addiction. By leveraging the reach of civil society, the government aims to address the root causes of substance abuse, such as peer pressure, lack of awareness, and mental health challenges, which are increasingly prevalent in a rapidly urbanizing society.
