Strengthening Electoral Integrity: The Role of Special Intensive Revision in Voter Roll Management

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated the third phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across various States and Union Territories. This administrative exercise is a cornerstone of the ECI’s commitment to maintaining an accurate, inclusive, and error-free electoral roll, which serves as the bedrock of India’s democratic framework. By systematically updating the rolls, the ECI ensures that eligible citizens are registered while simultaneously purging the database of inaccuracies, such as duplicate entries, deceased voters, or those who have permanently migrated.
